Review of Inter summer signings!
Inter finished in the 6th place last year, which was the main reason for coach Stramachioni to make some changes in the team. Inter had really bad season, maybe the worst season in 7-8 years. First thing Inter did, was deciding to lower their spending on salaries for players who already past their best like Lucio, Stankovic, Cesar, Chivu, Maicon, Forlan and Samuel. Both Samuel and Chivu agreed to play for lower wages and they signed new contracts. Lucio decided he need another challenge in his career and left Inter by mutual termination and later signed for rivals Juventus. Stankovic also unwanted to the team, but he had no intentions to move away so he stayed in the club. As for Cesar it was the saddest moment for every Inter fan when he said goodbye to all fans. Cesar was one of the few players that really played with heart, was always among fans, smiled after every victory, cried after every loss. He was all fans favorite. In July he didn't agree to lower his wages and therefore he was forced to leave the club. Last big name leaving the club was Gianpaolo Pazzini. The striker wasn't in Stramachioni plans for this season as he was too static and coach prefers more agile stirikers. Because of that he was out from team training base and at the end of the last month he moved to city rivals Milan in exchange for Antonio Cassano and 7 millions Euro.
After that on the transfer deadline Maicon signed for Manchester City for 4 millions Euro. Maicon was very close to staying with Inter but at the end he completed the Brazilian trio who left Inter. Also Forlan was released by mutual termination and signed for brazilian side International But lets start from the begging, president Morati first convinced Sneijder to stay at the club as he should be main force in the midfield. Then Inter signed replacement for Forlan. Palcio was brought from Genoa for 12 millions euro. Palacio proved his class in Genoa in the past 3 years and should be great signing for Inter. He scored 35 goals in 90 appearances for Genoa and great partnership with Milito is expected from him. As a replacement for Lucio, Inter loaned Matias Silvestre from Palermo with an opinion to buyout his contract next summer. Maicon's replacement is Alvaro Perreira from Porto, signed for 11 millions Euro plus bonuses. Excellent left food defender who can play also as midfilder. Now Zanetti should go back to his original position, right back. One of the toughest things for Inter management was finding proper central midfielder. The choice was Walter Gargano from Napoli comming on a season long loan with opinion to stay in Inter after his loan period. Inter found great replacement for Cesar in Udinese's goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. Slovenian international came in Inter for 14 millions Euro and is considered as one of the best Seria A goalkeepers. With all these players and Coutinho comming back to Inter from his loan spell every fan expect Inter to challenge the tittle again in Seria A. We'll see how things will turn out, but I have reason to be optimistic. Forza INTER!!!
